The 3jam service (www.3jam.com) allows people to send a single text message (SMS) to multiple friends and for any one recipient to then be able to Reply-All by simply responding to the original text message. 3jamming is an entirely new way to communicate...and nothing else available today is a good substitute (this includes voice calls, email, mobile email, IM, mobile IM, and push to talk). 3jam does not charge users for the text messages sent, but users do pay their wireless provider their standard text message charge for one text message each time they start or reply to a 3jam.

The 3jam Starter app was created to utilize the Treo functionality to significantly improve the speed with which one can begin a reply-all text messaging 3jam. It allows you to: 1) quickly "Lookup in Contacts" or manually add a mobile number; 2) write your starter text message and 3) send your text message directly from within the application – all without the need for special codes of any kind. A confirmation text is then sent to the original sender, and all recipients may participate in the 3jam reply-all text messaging conversation.

The 3jam service was created by Andy Jagoe and Enlai Chu because they were frustrated by not being able to do the things they wanted to do with text messages - like easily send them to a group of people, have everyone in the group know who else got the message and be able to reply to everyone else. Basic things that enable real conversations. Basic things that you can't do on cell phones today.
