Analyst Mike Abramsky today said that Apple, RIM and Palm are positioned for leadership as smartphone sales soar. Abrahmsky increased his forecast for smartphone penetration to 35% of global phones by 2012. Estimates and price targets were also increased based on his forecast.
Abrahmsky believes Palm has a few short-turn hurdles to get over, but they have the “special sauce” to lead, pointing to the companies webOS software.
Today’s earlier announcement that Palm would open up the App Catalog to paid applications is a sign that one of those hurdles might be over sooner than later.
