Treo Pro - a major disappointment

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful
Really disappointed with this - find it extremely SLOW - used a Blackberry 8703e and a Treo 680 and both far exceeded this unit in actually pleasure of use. Did I mention the menus are slow. THe 680 keyboard is far easier to use - far less mistyped keys as well as the stylus coming out of the bottom blows.

On a positive note - this phone has by far the best camera in a phone of anything I've seen, owned or used.

I've just ordered a new Blackberry and will be giving this one away to my daughter (if she wants it - she uses a Treo 600).

Battery life on the other hand is surprisingly good compared to my wifes I-phone, but in all fairness to the I-phone it absolutely blows this phone away with regards to Internet capabilities.

I honestly figured the Treo Pro was a step up from the Treo 680 but I can't help but feel I blew a wad of cash - what a waste. Should have stuck with the Treo 680. In fairness to the hardware - I believe the issue lies with the OS and not the Hardware. Windows Mobile 6.1 is terrible - maybe that's slanting my opinion of the hardware but it is what your are buying.

Best yet

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
I use a phone for business first, pleasure second. This is the best WM phone I have used and I go through a phone about once a year. My last was a HTC TyTn II (AT&T Tilt) and it pales in comparison to the Pro for what I need. For example, the TyTn would not automatically download email when the screen was off. It would also frequently dial numbers on its own because the screen was not easy to turn off and had no safety system for making sure you wanted the screen not to be activated. While good in rural areas the Pro is better. The Pro's gps use less power and is faster to acquire a fix. While I had concerns about the keyboard it has proved more adequate for my needs and storage with a microSD card is great.

I will always want something better, faster and cheaper but I commend Palm for having the guts to put this in the market when its obvious no carrier would pick it up. Sometimes you just have to pay to get something good.

Palm OS is still the best

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
I guess you could call me a Treo junkie. I have purchased all of them and the only device which still works and is still USER FRIENDLY is the Treo Centron with the Palm OS. Every Windows version was slow. Why can't Trep just make a Version with wifi? It is to hard? This is a great smartphone. Everytime a friend tries to go to a different smartphone for the fancy wireless, they get fustrated. I give them my extra, of course all junkies have an extra, and let them try it. They change and buy a TREO. So Can someone tell the upper management to just make the Treo OS better, more memory, wireless, stuff like that.

Treo Pro was REALLY Slow. Sold it n e-bay with in a week.

Great look...but it will Cost you.

Pros:
Great design. Sleek. Attractive. Smoother functionality than the 750 which I previously owned.

Cons:
Overpriced
I'd recommend waiting until a carrier picks it up.

Treo Pro is not what I expected

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Silly me! I love my Tungsten T5 so much and I have so much downloaded onto it that I thought that the Treo Pro was going to be a Tungsten T5 that I could make phone calls on, read my email on, get GPS directions, etc. WRONG. The keypad is too tiny and cumbersome for me. I have to use both hands to operate it, everything is just too small. But I would tolerate all of that if it had storage capacity, though. I couldn't download 1/4th of the reference books onto my Treo that I carry on my Tungsten. I am so disappointed and I paid SO MUCH for the experience!! I am really kicking myself. I guess I was dreaming.

Battery Death

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful
Battery life? Better battery death. I am on my second treo pro. The first one wouldn't hold a charge for 12 hours. The second one held a charge for a miraculaous 20 hours. Oh, did I forget to mention? In both cases the treo "pro", both phone and screen were turned off at all times except to check the lack of battery life. Two duds in a row does make one wonder what make this device a "pro".
