Verizon Rebate Form Reveals Pre 2 and $100 Rebate

We’ve heard rumors of a November release date for the Palm Pre 2 and that’s look more likely by the day. Today the crew at Engadget have received a Verizon rebate form will a host of Android devices. They report that the Pre 2 is also in the system coupled with a $100 rebate. So, what do we think? $99 after rebate? Here’s yet another video preview of the Palm Pre 2 running on Verizon Wireless. With any luck, this will be on shelves in a few weeks.

Sprint users, time for your voice to be heard

Sprint hasn’t seemed very interested in updating your beloved Pre with either the Pre Plus or the Pre 2 that’s coming to big red. Going on 16 months without a new webOS device has caused a bit of stir in the Sprint Pre community. Well, now there’s an opportunity for Sprint to hear your voice. The company has set up a poll in their official forums asking “Which mobile platform do YOU think Sprint should focus on?” Registration is required, but it’s a good opportunity to let them know how you feel. They are soliciting feedback. Give it to them.

Palm Pre 2 Preview

The lucky gentlemen at Phonescoop were granted a date with the Palm Pre 2. Palm again reminds journos that these units are pre-production and that leaves us wondering if there will be any changes when the Palm Pre 2 ships. You can view the full preview here, but here are some interesting snippets along with a video tour.

The most obvious changes to the Pre 2’s appearance are the new bevel around the front glass surface, which, by the way, is now Gorilla Glass. The display looks identical to the original, and the volume toggle, power/lock key, and silencing switch are all identical. The biggest and most welcome improvement to the hardware is the keyboard. Palm, changed the shape of the keys, and gave them much better travel and feedback. It still feels a bit cramped, but typing is much more satisfying on the revised hardware. The Pre 2 has a 1GHz processor, and the webOS 2.0 platform absolutely FLIES now.The speed improvements are real, and definitely appreciated.

Interesting that the display is reportedly Gorilla Glass. Many of these Palm Pre 2 previews showcase the speed of webOS 2.0. Cards are fast on pre-Pre 2 hardware with webOS 1.4.5. Will in-app speed be improved and will this carry over to pre-Pre 2 hardware? Those are the big questions for webOS 2.0. Still no official word on a release date for the Palm Pre 2 or webOS 2.0.

Palm Pre 2 Headed to Rogers

When Palm announced the Pre 2, they mentioned it was coming to Canada, but did not provide any carrier information. MobileSyrup (via Worldwide Gadget) has photos of the new Palm Pre 2 packaging and it’s clear the new Pre 2 is headed to Rogers. The new packaging also includes the new HP palm logo. Fancy! Obviously, packaging would indicate we are passed pre-production units. The rumored release date is November 9th, which dovetails nicely with our rumored November 11th US release date.

Palm Pre 2 Sizzle Promotional Video

This video has been making the rounds for a few days and we’ve yet to feature here. This isn’t a commercial, but rather a short promo video highlighting webOS. Given the similarities in form factor to the original Pre, it will be interesting to see how Palm/Verizon market the Palm Pre 2. Will they go purely OS and how do they convey all of the improvements in the Palm Pre 2? What we do know is that it’s not likely that we’ll see Creepy Girl 2.0.

Rumor: Palm Pre 2 Launch Scheduled for November 11th

Earlier today, Palm announced the Verizon Palm Pre 2. While there are a few pre-production units out there, the announced release date was “in the coming months“. According to Droid Life via everythingandroid, the Palm Pre 2 will launch with a group of Android devices on November 11th. Sounds plausible to us considering Verizon will likely want to take advantage of the holiday rush. Going back to Palm’s announcement, coming months sounds more like December.

While we await the inevitable reviews that should be hitting the Interwebs shortly, here’s a photo gallery of the new Palm Pre 2. What might not be noticeable from the images is that the Pre 2 features a new glass display. That coupled with the 1Ghz processor are the big changes here.

Verizon To Get Palm Pre 2?

Remember that Palm Pre 2 we saw on SFR’s site last week. As it turns out, it appears that Verizon will be carrying the Palm Pre 2.  Engadget received a screenshot of an internal training that clearly shows a blurb about “what’s new with Palm WebOS and key features of the Palm Pre 2“. That’s gotta hurt Sprint customers who have been patiently waiting for a new Sprint webOS phone, but perhaps we’ll see more carriers offering up Palm’s latest and greatest. How about you? Due for your new every 2?

SFR Confirms Palm Pre 2

If there was any question about whether or not we’d see the Palm Pre 2, you can throw it out the window. SFR, a wireless carrier in Franch, jumped the gun and posted information on the upcoming Palm Pre 2. This is most definitely the rumored Roadrunner device. The image shown on SFR is actually includes Roadrunner in the name.  It will feature a 1Ghz processor, 512MB RAM and will feature a flatter screen. PreCentral theorizes that it could be glass and we’re certainly hope this to be the case. There will also be a new push feature in webOS 2.0, allowing Facebook updates and more pushed to your device. Sounds good to us.
