Some have experienced legitimate build quality issues, but at what point do these returns start to feed off of each other. Consumers happen upon a problem and then have concerns about getting a perfect phone, which they should for $300. It’s unclear whether some returns are actual problems or simply the nature of a device that has many moving parts. Is it possible to have five defects? Handset analyst David Eller sees returns on the increase and points to the keyboard. “While there have not been any significant long term engineering issues, the Palm Pre’s keyboard creates friction when sliding that causes the battery to recycle. This gives the appearance of poor battery life as the recurring powering up cycle drain the battery faster than it would through normal use.”
Where do you stand? Happy with your Palm Pre or do find yourself among those with build quality issues?
