According to a senior HP executive, HP will release new webOS phones in early 2011. While not surprising, that would likely mean there won’t be anything new this year, although that was not confirmed. Senior Vice President Eric Cador announced the news at an industry conference in Europe saying, “You will see us coming early next year with new phones.”
It’s still not clear if HP will release the new phones under their brand or if the Palm brand survives. The good news is that ‘phones’ implies multiple phones will be released in early 2011. Cador reaffirmed the reasoning for the HP’s acquisition of Palm.
“More importantly we acquired webOS,” Cador told the conference in Barcelona, adding Palm’s intellectual property was “extremely fundamental” in the deal.
Are they too late or perhaps waiting to get things just right? After seeing the release of the Droid Pro, wouldn’t that be a killer device if coupled with webOS? Make it happen HP.
