Cypress Semiconductor will be the sole supplier of the touch panel for the Palm Pre according to a DigiTimes report. The iPhone and Palm Pre are among a number of new mobile products that have caused a boom in multi-touch capable high-end handsets. According to the report, "fierce competition will drive down the price of related chips and modules".
Palm has yet to confirm the price of the Palm Pre, but this is a good sign for lower prices in the handset market.
