It’s Official, Palm Pre Plus on AT&T May 16th, priced at $149.99

According to AT&T’s Facebook page (traditional PR be damned), the Palm Pre Plus will be available on May 16th, priced at $149.99 after rebate with a 2-year agreement. If you purchase the Palm Pre Plus in a corporate owned AT&T store, you’ll receive a free Touchstone.

Still no mention of the Palm Pixi Plus, which we noted was absent from the AT&T launch slide leaked last week. If we receive any word on the Palm Pixi from Palm or AT&T, we’ll pass it along.

Who’s jumping at the fern laden AT&T Palm Pre Plus on the 16th?

Do you guys know if it’s a instant or mail in rebate?

  2. Christopher Meinck says:

Sorry, but we’re not sure. The announcement is buried somewhere in their Facebook newsfeed. If we get a press release from Palm or AT&T, we’ll update the article and comments. If I had to guess, it’s a mail-in rebate. You can probably bypass the rebate if it’s available through Best Buy, but then you miss out on the Touchstone.

  3. michael b says:

yeah it is a mail in rebate i read through the news feed. Id like to get the touchstone charger for free. But i wonder if it is indeed a fact as to whether or not best buy will be carrying it on day 1 or not?

  4. Christopher Meinck says:

Might be one of those debit card rebates — personally, I’d go to Best Buy if they have it for $150 out the door.

  5. michael b says:

Yeah that thats i’m going to wind up doing. I can really care less if i get the touch stone charger for free or not. I will have to call best buy and see if they will indeed be carrying them on the 16th or not. I have an iphone 3g right now and am ready to get do away with it in favor of the palm pre plus.

  6. michael b says:

well i just called my local best buy and they have no idea if they will be carrying it upon launch or not. Shocking!!!!

  7. Christopher Meinck says:

I get the feeling this is not exactly a well coordinated launch. A paragraph on a Facebook fan page is not a good start.

At that price, Palm will have tough sledding for a number of reasons.

    1. Pricing (free) of Palm Pre Plus on a superior network (Verizon).
    2. Expect more marketing dollars thrown at Droid Incredible.
    3. June brings both the HTC EVO 4G and a new iPhone.
    4. At launch, you are competing with the iPhone 3G — which is $99 and the iPhone 3GS $199, no rebates.

It will be interesting to see if they assemble a nice marketing campaign around the Palm Pre Plus.
