Review: Vaja iVolution T6 for Treo 600
There are countless cases available for the PalmOne Treo 600 that the process to find the perfect case can be daunting. We at Everything Treo recently put the Vaja iVolution T6 through the paces to see how it stacks up to the competition. Available on through their website, the iVolution T6 is made by Vaja. Vaja specializes in high-end leather cases for PDA’s, Smartphones and MP3 players.
All Access
Upon first glance, it’s clear that Vaja has a history making cases. The iVolution T6 is well constructed and the Argentinean leather suits the Treo real well. The case is designed to allow access to your HotSync through the travel cable as well as the headphone jacks, power and your SD. There is a cutaway that allows for camera use. The Treo 600 fits snugly within the casing. No worries about your Treo slipping out of this case. One of the coolest features of the Vaja was the metal mesh that covered the speaker and the back. It’s clear that the case was
well thought out. The screen does not have any protection. The beauty of this case is that it really lets you show off the Treo. That being said, it’s highly recommended that you pick up screen protectors. PalmOne sells Tungsten screen protectors that are Treo 600 compatible.Access to the keyboard is great. If this were strictly a PDA, then it’s less of an issue. As a phone, you need quick access to the keyboard.
Optional Clip
The iVolution feels good in your hand and didn’t add much in terms of size to the Treo. This was a big issue for me, because I prefer a small phone. The iVolution T6 comes with or without a belt clip. Vaja uses the Ultra-Clip which has been around for years. The clip is sturdy and well constructed, but it’s somewhat bulky. I do not enjoy the exercise of feeding my belt through a clip. That being said, it’s a matter of personal preference if you prefer clips with your Treo. Either way,
Vaja has you covered.
Overall
The case has a certain elegance to it and it’s worthy of the Treo 600. This is not the case, pardon the pun, with some of the cases available on the market. The packaging alone is impressive. With a bucket load of customization options (including 20 colors and combinations of color)and to clip or not to clip, the Vaja iVolution T6 is available in the combination of your choice. If I have any complaint, it appears to be the lack of availability. Vaja is only offering the custom built option. At $84.90, this case is already pricing and add $20 for customization. The belt clip will run you an extra $4. Custom orders take 30 days and you’ll pay for shipping from Argentina. The iVolution T6 is the BMW of Treo 600 cases. Expensive, but quality that puts it in a class of it’s own.
The Vaja Case in black is available in the US and retails for $99.95.
