Palm has released a beta version of a new program called Palm Backup allowing Treo owners to backup and restore critical data OTA (over the air).

Palm Backup backs up the following data:

• Contacts
• Calendar
• Memos
• Tasks
• Bookmarks
• Speed dials
• Call log

Features:

• Backup your essential information to a secure server, without using cables or even your desktop computer.
• Set an automatic backup schedule, and never think about it again. Or backup manually whenever you want.
• Restore your essential personal information from anywhere you have wireless data coverage.

Palm Backup is available for free, but only for a limited time. No information on cost just yet.

Palm Backup is compatible with the Treo 700p, Treo 680 and Treo 650 smartphones. An unlimited wireless data package is advised.
