New HP Veer Commercial Features Miranda Cosgrove

It took some time, but commercials are hitting the airwaves to promote the HP Veer 4G. This time around, Miranda Cosgrove (of iCarly fame), is the spokesperson for the Veer. Like the Manny Pacquiao commercial before it, these are very well done spots. They use celebrity to catch your attention, but the focus remains on the unique features of webOS. The outlook for the HP TouchPad commercials looks real good.

They’ve come a long way from the creepy girl, haven’t they?

Thanks Akitayo!

HP Veer 4G Hands On Video, Unboxing

Here’s a first look at the HP Veer 4G, coming to AT&T on May 15th at a price of $99.99 (with a 2-year agreement). Our first impressions are as you’d expect, the Veer is surprisingly small. The keyboard is reminiscent of the Palm Pre Plus keyboard, but improved. It is smaller than the Pre keyboard, with the keys roughly the size of those found on the Pixi Plus. The magnetic latch is a welcome addition. No more USB doors to fiddle with and the latch attaches with ease. The back of the HP Veer is a hard plastic, slightly different from the Touchstone backing on the Pre.

We haven’t spent much time yet with the Veer, but build quality appears to be pretty solid throughout. The sliding mechanism is very smooth and quiet. The HP Veer is the antithesis of today’s smartphones. In a crowded field of large screen devices, the HP Veer dares to move in the opposite direction, with it’s impossibly small stature. Thanks to it’s small size and support for lanyards, it could have wide appeal to those looking for wearable tech or those looking to avoid the bulk found in other larger phones. It’s not a word I use often, but the Veer is “cute”. I can say with certainty that we won’t see Veer commercials with F16’s bombing corn fields.

Stay tuned for our review in the coming week.

HP Veer Event Scheduled for May 2nd, AT&T Launch Soon After?

HP is hosting an event on May 2nd in Anaheim for Best Buy and AT&T employees. The event is online (see graphic below), so no surprises here that it’s all about the Veer. “Come see why small is the new big!” reads the tagline. One would presume that information about the launch would available on or around this date. While it’s perfectly normal to invite tech journalists to events without the promise of a release date, this is an entirely different event. Attendees are in sales, so it would be surprising if launch dates, pricing were not available.

Are you planning on picking up the Veer or do you have your heart set on the Pre 3? Regardless of your preference, isn’t nice that we’re finally getting close to seeing a new webOS phone get released.

HP To Introduce HP Veer, Pre3 and TouchPad

The proverbial cat is out of the bag, let loose by HP themselves. Their site reveals the products that make sense of the Think Big, Think Small, Think Beyond tagline. The small product is the HP Veer, detailed here by Robert Scoble. There will also be a new Pre, dubbed the Palm Pre 3 and of course the HP TouchPad.

More details as they flow in and of course once the event takes place at 1:00 pm EST. Time to start manufacturing those Pre 3 cases.
